Medicals for pilots holding UK-issued licences

In March 2021 the CAA brought in the Cellma medical records system for pilots with UK-issued licences. Pilots who require a UK CAA medical must register on the CAA portal, fill out their application form online and pay the CAA submission fee (no fee for LAPL) that we previously collected on behalf of the CAA. This process can take a few days, therefore we advise pilots to attend to this in good time. Please see the CAA website and the following useful documents:

If you hold a PPL and your UK Class 2 medical certificate has a later LAPL expiry date then you may fly with LAPL privileges until that date, there is no need to advise the CAA. Please note that LAPL privileges exclude the use of any Instrument Rating. Self-declaration of medical fitness has been extended to pilots holding some UK licences. Please check the CAA publication list for full details. The CAA self-declaration form must be completed online via Cellma.

Medicals for pilots holding EU-issued licences

Dr Emma Ramsay has gained approval to perform medical examinations for pilots holding EU-issued licences (EASA medicals) under Transport Malta. We are not taking bookings for EASA medicals from 22nd January 2024, as Transport Malta are undertaking a revalidation process of their AMEs which is likely to take several months. We are hoping to be able to offer EASA medicals again in the near future. For these medicals please complete the following forms prior to your appointment and bring them along with your current medical certificate and EU licence:

Random drug and alcohol testing may be performed during the medical.
